We stayed in this hotel for a total of 8 nights during our trip to Paris and Normandy. You won't be disappointed if you are looking for a friendly, clean and pleasant hotel in a real Paris neighborhood. It's not fancy but the staff is wonderful (especially if you try to speak French!) and the rooms are comfortable if small. Having been in New York hotels, the rooms here are close to what you find there. Walking around the neighborhood is great, stopping at the "tabac" stores and local cafes you feel like a Parisien, not a tourist. There is shopping up and down the boulevards and it is close to a few Metro stops too. An easy walk to the Bastille and Marais for more exploring. If you want to be a tourist and spend like a tourist, check in to a Sheraton or the Ritz but if you want the real Paris experience, this place is for you.
Just arrived home yesterday after a long weekend here. There was six of us staying in three twin rooms. Absolutely no complaints. Rooms were very clean, beds comfortable, staff very friendly and helpful. It's in a great location for getting around Paris, we found it such an easy base to work from. There is a market just across from the hotel, which we loved and some great shops just around the corner. Would definitely go here again and definitely recommend, not one of our group found cause for complaint.
This hotel was absolutely perfect. Great price, clean, the staff was beyond friendly & helpful. My favorite thing about this hotel was the location. Across the street was an air market almost everyday. Metro stations very close. Short walk to lively bars & restaurants, and shopping. The neighborhood felt very safe. The location alone was worth it. My next trip to Paris I will definitely book Mercure Paris Bastille Saint Antoine.
My title says it all really. Minor complaints - breakfast not like your English Mercure breakfast but as expected for a French continental breakfast. I requested some more coat hangers as only 5 in wardrobe but the receptionist didn't understand me even though I tried the french word so said she would come up but never arrived. I requested them twice more in person but we never did get any. Room - nicely decorated & clean - just 1 light switch broken. Nicely situated. Not far on foot to Gare de lyon, Bastille area & Seine. Restaurants & shops on the doorstep. Free internet in reception - very useful. I would stay again.
The hotel isn't too far from the train station (gare de Lyon, it's about 10 min on foot), it's quiet and the staff was very friendly and helpful! The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Our only problem was that it was a bit cold in the room and we couldn't figure out how the heating worked. But I would definitely recommend the hotel and go back there!
My daughter and myself stayed in this hotel for 6 days and iI can say it really is a lovely hotel. Excellent value for money, very comfortable, very clean.Although not all the staff could speak english (which dosen't matter anyway) everyone was helpful and pleasant. I hope this hotel is always kept up to a good standard regards decorating etc. It is really a little gem! Mrs Sylvia Jenkins.
My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Paname Bastille last summer and since then it has been taken over by the Mercure hotel chain. I cannot say it has changed at all. It's still in the same great location, still has the good size rooms and bathrooms (I think they have just been renovated) and friendly, helpful staff. This visit I was with a friend and we had a twin room which was comfortable and large enough for all our stuff. The price is still right when booked on the internet - we paid 105 Euros/night. Not bad for Paris. The Metro line 8 will get you there easily...just jump off at the Ledru-Rollins stop and walk 3 blocks to the hotel. It's in a quiet, residential neighbourhood with a daily market. I highly recommend staying here when in Paris.
This hotel is really nothing special. The bed and pillows are comfortable. The furniture is a bit odd. King size headboard for a queen size bed? The air conditioning system works as it should. The internet system is terrible, very unreliable. You have to log (actually create a user ID)into the quirky Mercure system. The wifi signal is extremely weak throughout the hotel. The connection speeds are terrible and pulse severely. The service is very restrictive when and if you do connect. Never had a strong enough signal to use Skype or even view Facebook without a struggle. Not all the rooms have a mini fridge so make sure you ask for a room with one when you check in. The hotel does not have self service laundry but there is a decent laundrymat a few blocks away. Shower water pressure was decent. Not many cable channels. I think less than 10 all together. Staff is friendly and somewhat helpful given the limitations of the hotel. We asked for some ice for some drinks we wer
