I can't comments on price/value as we are Marriott St Thomas owners who traded into OBBR 2 Bedrm thru Interval. Went in off season (last week in Aug - lots of restaurants on the island closed) with our 10 & 12 year old sons. At check-in I asked for renovated room, with view of either bay or ocean…was given key to check out one of each (thanks Nina) and picked the 1st floor oceanfront - AMAZING!!! The water was lapping at the rocks 20 ft away! We had a nearly full moon on 2 clear nights - beautiful. One downside - the second bedroom in all 2 bedroom units has one queen bed, none have 2 doubles. The pool is as nice as the pictures show, and has neon lights at night - boys loved that. The hotel has a 2-1 happy hour every night....the boys loved the non-alcoholic fruity smoothies (mango, strawberry-banana colada, etc) and made sure we were back to the hotel for it each night! One night we were at Dawn Beach and the boys didn't want to leave but wanted happy hour smoothies and found out Beau Beau's, which is right on the beach and part of OBBR, participates also - they brought our drinks to us on the beach! Is the room/property as luxurious as a Marriott? No, but it's perfectly fine, bright, cheerful, & clean. The hotel is on a coral/rock reef that juts into the water. There is an interior building that doesn't face ocean or marina that I would think had bad views - call before you book to ensure what you are getting. Would not want to stay there. Having Kitchen was great for convenience & saving $ to eat breakfast in each day. Put small soft case cooler in a suitcase with a couple packs of frozen bacon, kielbasa, 2 sticks marg, etc plus some pancake mix, cereal. You can bring food/meat into St Martin without creating a customs hassle (I claimed them) or even a check. There were a few maint issues with the room that got taken care of within first 24 hrs (2nd bedrm A/C not working well, balcony railing loose at wall, light bulb out, etc). Infinity restaurant food was very good for lunch (& nice view), Beau Beau's ok for dinner. Snorkeling right in front of the hotel off Dawn beach is very good, but water is not deep so don't go unless water is reasonable calm or can get pushed into coral. We really enjoyed OBBR & would stay here again. Staff everywhere was super friendly. Go to Orientation and pay attention to island history, can win some nice free tickets. Must check out Bobbit Point. You can see it from the pool – it’s the big hill on the left when you are facing the ocean. Hard to find the entrance to get to it….Get directions to Olivers but don’t turn down the road into their driveway, go straight. There’s a house (think it’s green) that has what looks like driveway on the right, with a gate at the end. Park on the side of that “driveway” (it’s not) and walk up thru the gate, up the hill. The views are spectacular. There are often donkeys up there. If you move slowly, they will get used to you and let you pet them. The British woman who owns them lives in the green house (tell her the Kings said “Hi”!). As for the island....We had a timeshare week expiring, this was available, booked it without checking out the island, just the hotel, figuring it's the Caribbean, has to be things to do with our boys, and I was short on time. A few months before leaving I did my usual thorough research and was in a panic that I had made a mistake....island reviews said things like "adult playground", wouldn't bring kids here, etc. Didn't know about Orient Bay, the nudist tendencies on beaches, etc. Didn't look like there was much to do outside of daily excursion trips, that would cost a fortune for us if we did that multiple days. Every website talks about the "37 beaches" but I thought after 1 or 2, they will all be wonderful but the same - worried kids would get bored. This turned out to be one of our absolute favorite vacations (and we've been to many fabulous Caribbean, Mexico, Florida places with the kids). Each beach had something unique - big waves (Orient), no waves but diving dock (Le Galion), good snorkeling for kids right off beach (Mullet, Friars, Dawn), Coralita Bay (can walk in calf deep water out to off-shore island) & their favorite Red Bay Beach (rock cliff to jump off of, smooth flat boulders on beach to use as slides as waves went out, hidden beach with cliffs around the bend, & Gus’s amazing happy hour mango smoothies!) Boys also enjoyed Butterfly Farm immensely & zip-lining at Loterie Farm. Yes, there was a topless woman at two of the beaches, and a fully nude couples and older man at Cupecoy (just checked out the beautiful cliffs there and left) but it was no big deal. We explained the cultural differences beforehand, we have never made a big deal of it at home, so the boys were un-phased and more curious about sunburn & sand in those places! You must rent a car – it’s cheap (lots of horror stories on web about ST Martin Car rental but none about Alize – great) and there’s so much to see. But for some reason you need cash to get gas, so be sure to have enough on hand later in the week. Also, Grand Case area can get snarled in traffic at rush hour (avoid!).

Very nice stay, management felt the room was probably too small so she gave us a 2 bedroom ocean front loft. This was very nice. It was beautiful and everything is close by restaurants, duty free shop and a mini supermarket. The staff is very friendly. Yes they have hot wAter.

we spent 2 nights at the OBBR before checking into our rental property. It was fantastic. Everything worked, everyone was nice, helpful, and pleasant. The restaurant was close to exceptional and the wait staff was above average. I would stay here again and recommend it to others.

Oyster Bay Beach Resort is an average 3-star hotel / time share resort. In February, mostly senior citizen time share owners, some staying for several weeks. Activities are similar to those found at active adult communities. Place is quiet at night. Staff is very helpful and polite. Rooms are clean but just basic. Pool and beach strip are narrow. You are swimming on the Atlantic side so water is not as calm as on Caribbean. The resort location is somewhat isolated and very hilly. There are several restaurants and a convenience store within walking distance. Expect to take taxis to other island locations if you don't rent a car. The public bus does not run out to Oyster Bay. The weather is guaranteed sunny and warm.
