It's quite a cheap and at the same time very clean and neat hotel. The wi-fi goes very well. On the one hand, the location is a problem of this hotel, which situates far from all the places of interest of Paris, but on the other hand we have discovered a very beautiful route to the centre walking down the channel Saint Martin. The rooms and passages are small. If you live in the last floor you can't stand up taking shower.
My partner and I booked a room here in July, 2013. The positives: close to metro. The negatives: - The service is poor, they made opening a bottle of wine seem like they did you the biggest favour you could have possibly asked; - The room is much much smaller than it seems, the pictures must have been taken outside the actual room. I looked for room measurements, and it said 11 sq metres, but I think it is actually much smaller. - If you are travelling with a large suitcase and there is more than one person, you will need to do the escalator trip twice because the lift is TINY. Not only is it usable by only one person and one suitcase at a time.. getting from top to bottom of a 5 or 6 storey building will take you 5 minutes (including waiting time). - The rooms constantly have a toilet spray smell they seemingly force down your throat down every corridor and every square metre of your room. - The noise from Rue de Crimee is very very loud. We stayed on the fourth floor and you can hear every conversation, every car that goes past and every sound you can possibly imagine. Its especially excellent that at the time we stayed, there were roadworks/ building work going on at 4:30 every morning. - The neighbourhood is dangerous and you should be weary at all times Do yourself a favour, spend the extra 15-20 dollars a night to get a room where you wont have to deal with this. It will be the best money you ever spent!
To start, I will say that the location was good, just a short walk from a metro station, and wasn't too bad walking there at midnight one night. The price was cheap, so was not expecting too much, but was hoping for a bit of a better room than we were given. We had a fourth floor room, had asked for the room to not be situated on the road side and thankfully they'd given us a quiet room. The lift is tiny, along with the corridor, and the room. The bed is very low down, hard, and found the pillows way too soft to sleep on. There was mould above the bed, and in the shower cubicle, but other than that the cleanliness was alright, bed made each day and fresh towels and such. My biggest problem was that there was no sound proofing at all, many a time I was woken by people in the night talking in their own rooms. If you're looking for a good nights sleep it's probably not the best place to stay. Other than that, the tv was good, good choice of channels, the staff friendly enough, didn't really talk to them, and didn't have breakfast as we thought it was way too expensive when we could get a croissant down the road for less than a euro.
I stayed here with my husband for a long weekend trip to Paris 13-16th April. The Hotel was well priced on a Eurostar deal. It's a short walk from the Crimee Metro stop. Check in was quick and the staff spoke perfect English and were friendly. We had a 2nd floor room with a view across the street. The lift was small but worked the whole trip and was helpful after walking round the city all day. The room was a decent size, clean and the bed/pillows were very comfy. The room was cleaned daily. The bathroom was a good size although the shower was small and the runners on the cubicle were broken. The hairdryer didn't work but the in room leaflet said you could get one from reception. We didn't have breakfast but it was 9 euros a days for a buffet. The building was old but effort had been made especially on the rooms to modernize. There is a supermarket over the road, there is a patisserie next door which did well price excellent pastries and cakes, the staff were friendly and made an effort to help with out limited french- a pain au chocolat was 1 euro and excellent. For a short budget trip I was impressed.
The card to open the door didnt; work - lock on the door appeared to be faulty - had to go down to reception every time to get the recepetionist to try and open th door - hd to be given a new card every time . staircase entrance was blocked in the mornings by the cleaning staff with bags of bedlinen- so only lift could be used- lift very small and slow. Receptionists were as helpful as they could be, but overall experience was terrible.
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Balladins hotel for 3 nights in February 2013. We had researched many hotels and read reviews of the balladins hotel online. From what we saw the reviews were pretty mediocre, we thought we would try our luck as most of the time people decide to leave a review it is generally to be negative. When we arrived in crimee we didn't really know what to expect and our first perception of the area was not that great. The area is a little run down with loads of graffiti (although you will find this in most areas of the city). It took us a few minutes to find our bearings when we left the metro station, but it literally took about 5 minutes to walk to the hotel. The staff were welcoming and spoke good English. Before arriving at the hotel I had emailed to request a room at the back of the hotel and the reply was efficient. We needed help connecting to the wifi, staff were very helpful with this. On the last day we checked out and they were happy to store our luggage for the day. The room was clean but basic (could compare it to a premier inn back home) NOT AS SMALL AS OTHER REVIEWERS DESCRIBE IT. The bed was surprisingly comfy and we slept very well. The district is not too far from any of the main tourist points via the metro. (You can buy a 3 or 5 day pass when you arrive for around 30 euro. If you get lost you will find many of the locals are happy to point you in the right direction. The tubes also run past 12 every day which allows you time to enjoy the evening. There are lots of warnings of pickpockets around Paris but we didn't find this a problem. Overall we enjoyed our stay at the balladins hotel, it was good value for money! We will happily stay there again :)
Pics and actual location/room are not same. Rooms were small and smelly. Location was too bad. Reception open hardly 1 hr per day. Breakfast was not worth (not recommended at all). you can eat much more and with ggod quality outside. High disturbance from nearby rooms (if someone will sneeze also in the next room you can hear it). Not recommended.
we stayed in this hotel in july 2012.our booking was done online.this hotel is about 15 mts drive on the highway towards geneva. hotel is neat and clean and staff is very polite.in breakfast we have quite a few good options. the offer free wifi near reception area which is good for free calls on skype.overall the two days we stayed there, we felt very safe and enjoyed our day without worries.
